The TransEnergyPartners GmbH was founded by Martin Fetzer, Ingo Frank and Marc Meiling with the objective of promoting renewable energy in Germany. Originally, the main focus was on the development and implementation of photovoltaic projects and the selection of suitable investment models.
Since all the changes in the energy sector have a strong impact on transportation and automotive industries, it is important to look at said impact in detail. This is where our consulting service comes into play. We develop new business models and make the corresponding adjustments of core processes for our customers.
When Prof. Johann Tomforde joined the company in 2013, the consulting and service portfolio was complemented with Innovation and Technology Management. As a result, we focus on new business models for electric mobility.
As project co-ordinator, we bring the experience and know-how from our business portfolio to the AUTOPLES project (Automatisiertes Parken und Laden von ElektrofahrzeugSystemen —automated parking and charging of electric vehicle systems). AUTOPLES is funded by the German Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and is implemented in conjunction with the “Spitzencluster ‘Elektromobilität Süd-West’”, an electric mobility business cluster in the South West of Germany.
At the beginning of 2013 we established a close cooperation with AROSOFT, a specialist in IT infrastructure services. Now we can offer cross-platform solutions to our customers that can be incorporated into smart grids and that ensure that regionally produced renewable energy can be used optimally for electric vehicles.
At TransEnergyPartners, we develop and customize business models as well as product and service portfolios for our clients. We provide support for process development and change processes that affect enterprise staff and organization, as they are affected by market environment factors.
In addition to the professional strategy development and project support, we develop, manage and implement complex initiatives across systems and structures as an external partner.
In the following, we demonstrate where our consulting services can be of benefit. On the corporate side, changing trends create new business models and ranges of products continually; on the consumer side, trend changes result in altered consumer habits and variations in demand for products, services and customer-oriented processes.
BMW will sell its compact electric car i3 directly over the Internet and will introduce mobile representatives who will visit the customer at home.
Consequence: The generation of online shoppers and the pressure to reduce distribution costs will motivate manufacturers to digitize all customer contact processes, thereby expanding direct sales as an alternative to the trade.
Amazon wants to deliver to its customers within a pre-determined timeframe and is field testing just-in-time storage and distribution of frequently ordered products in the United States. Best-sellers ordered online, such as toilet paper, printing paper and milk are delivered to the door within minutes.
Consequence: In order to obtain widespread acceptance, emission-free delivery vans have to be used. The local and trans-regional trade that is currently in place must respond with its own offers and new processes to the competition introduced by Amazon.
London wants to reduce traffic load and particulate pollution as well as solve housing and parking issues. A congestion charge was introduced but e.g. purely battery-powered vehicles are allowed to enter the city center for free.
Consequence: Consequence: Cities and towns will follow London’s lead. They will invest in a charging infrastructure for electric vehicles and create more compact parking and loading space. Car manufacturers will offer pure electric vehicles for commercial and private short-distance traffic.
These three examples show that successful companies and public institutions do respond.

After several stations in multinational corporations of detergent industry and automotive industry, he committed himself to new media in 2000. His expertise was gained e.g. as genereal manager of one oft he biggest web portals for auctions and classified ads and is very familiarized with online distribution of vehicles. The MBA has gained extensive experience with change management and has also launched several start-ups. His specialties are internet sales strategies, sales- and leadmanagement as well as every touching territories as social media. Since 2011 he is also lecturer at the automotive business faculty at the Nürtingen-Geislingen University and passes his knowledge to students.
